The Cross River state Traditional Rulers Council has lauded the Ben Akak Foundation for not only demonstrating concern over the welfare of the members of the traditional institution but striving to touch lives of other citizens across the state.
The Chairman of the Traditional Council, HRM Etinyin Etim Okon Edet, who said this when the Chairman of the Ben Akak Foundation, Engr Ben Akak, paid the institution a visit, Friday, noted that the Council was benefiting from the benevolence of the Foundation for the second time within the year.
Addressing the Chairman of the Foundation, HRM Edet said “You have indeed displayed great concern for us and this is wisdom. This is the second time you have showed such magnanimity within this year.
“People used to underrate traditional institution but let me say this, we do not only custody tradition, we custody the culture of our people, we custody our political culture, economic culture and religious culture. I commend you for taking this bold step. When you recognize the place of fathers, doors get open for you.
“On behalf of all the traditional rulers in the state, I want to thank you for recognizing that you have fathers in the land through these donations for this festive period. May God bless and grant whatever your heart desire is. May God programme your desires and cause it to come to limelight.
“There are other Foundations in Cross River but the Ben Akak Foundation is standing out tall among them. And, let me assure you that in our various domains, we shall continue to pray for you. May this Foundation continue to grow from strength to strength.”
Other paramount rulers who also spoke included those of Odukpani, Yakurr, Abi. They all prayed for God’s blessing on the Foundation.
Speaking earlier, Engr Ben Akak said his visit was to felicitate with the Royal Fathers and thank them for supporting his Foundation throughout the year.
“We enjoy so much support from our Royal Fathers and for this we are very grateful.
“We have started something in the northern part of the state and gradually we would spread our tentacle to every nook and cranny of our dear state. We ask that you keep lending us your support and also continue to support Gov Ben Ayade’s administration because he is doing his very best to reposition Cross River state.”
On the endSARS protest which was hijacked by hoodlums with more than 100 public and private properties vandalized in Calabar and other local government councils, Engr Akak described it as an evil invasion.
“Recently, we witnessed an evil invasion of Calabar. Such action is totally condemnable and should not be condoned. We thank all those who promptly stepped in to stop the carnage thereby bringing stability to our city. I pray that such evil would not repeat itself.”
High point of the visit was the Royal blessing given to Engr Ben Akak by the Paramount Rulers. 19 bags of rice and other items were donated to Royal Fathers for the festive period.
