The Hounourable Commissioner for Rural Transformation in Cross River state, Hon. Edem Okokon Effiom, has gone a step further in his effort to put smile on faces of his people with the grading of over six kilometers stretch of roads covering five villages in Akpabuyo local government area of the state.

The benefitting villages include Ikot Eniti in Effanga Offiong ward, Ikot Effiong, Ikot Ekpo, Etonkpe and Atim Asang all in Atimbo ward.

Conducting newsmen round the six kilometers graded road, Effiom said, “I am doing this on personal effort and the desire to make my people feel the impact of inclusive governance, as well as the support my community gave to this administration in the last general elections”.

According to him, “these villages have been walking on track roads in the last 25 years without any access road. This is unbelievable in this global and digital world. I couldn’t have done it alone without the support of the governor, His Excellency Senator Ben Àyade, who is so passionate about the rural dwellers and their wellbeing.”

Effiom lauded the pragmatic style of administration by governor Àyade especially in the area of industrialization and called for support and cooperation from the people.

In an interview, the Clan Head of Akwa Ikot Effanga Offiong, His Royal Highness, Nyong Okon Edem, said that “Hon.Okokon Effiom, has been God sent to the people of this community. Onbehalf of my people we are full of appreciation to the governor, Prof. Ben Ayade and Mr. Edem Okokon Effiom for what they have done for our community.

“For over 25 years, this is the first time a bulldozer has entered our community to do grading of this kind. We are very glad and grateful to this government. We are solidly behind this administration that has remembered us and we also use this opportunity to commend the Honourable Commissioner for demonstrating that he actually care for his people.”
