Pastor Dominic Udo John, 48, who allegedly defiled his twelve year old housemaid, Enobong John Etim was at the weekend paraded by the Cross River State Police command together with 77 other suspected criminals and cultists including another rape suspect, Michael Emmanuel Okon, 25, who was said to have also forcefully had carnal knowledge of 9 year old Destiny Uduak Sunday.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa, while parading the suspects, said the pastor forcefully had carnal knowledge of the girl, that hearing the cry of the girl and that John was subsequently arrested.
“On 11th March, 2018, at about 2200hrs, one Pastor Dominic Udo John (48) of Ikot Ekpo, 8 miles Calabar was arrested for forcefully defiling his 12yrs old housemaid, Enobong John Etim. Following the victim’s outcry, the suspect was arrested and admitted to committing the crime,” he stated.
The Commissioner said medical examinations have been carried out by qualified medical practitioner to ascertain the health status of both girls and that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were completed.
Similarly, 27 year old Veronica James Usim of Ekong Anaku village in Akamkpa local government area of the state was also paraded for carrying, in a sack bag, fourteen packs of live cartridges. The Commissioner said the lady was yet to tell the Police the source of and what the cartridges were meant for.
Inuwa explained further that about 324 firearms of different categories, either English or locally made, have been recovered from various groups and individuals in furtherance of the instruction by the Inspector General that all unlawful arms should be mopped up.
The Police Boss therefore charged members of the public to report anybody with arms or questionable character to the police to help stem the tide of insecurity in Cross River.
